The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Burb rear fender rust

I've attempted without much success to patch the rear fenders on the burb. Metal at the edge of the fender near bolt holes is to thin to weld. I'm afraid that by the time I get a patch welded in I'll destroy the fender. So was wondering if anyone has fixed thier fenders with POR-15, or some other method, and how did it work? Maybe even fiberglass patches? My fenders look good except for two areas along the edge. Looking forward to any suggestions, thanks.

Decided to go with POR-15 "Resto-GRIP" body filler.

If your rear Burb fenders are otherwise in good shape
I would definitely repair the edges near the bolt holes.
If these areas are rusted away then patch them
with either metal or fiberglass as you've noted.

If they are just "thin" then reinforce those areas with Fiberglass; right over the holes and re-drill the holes. Treating thin or rusted areas with POR 15
is a good plan pre or post repairs as necessary.

Wrestling with aftermarket reproduction Panel/Burb fenders
is an exercise in frustration so keep your rears metal!
