For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 452 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 452 | I was enjoying a favorite passtime... Wandering the Pick-N-Pull. At the exit, there was a 3 spd trans on a table, marked as from a 32 coupe. It had a second lever over the output shaft that I couldn't identify... Looked like an overdrive lever, but I'm not sure. Casting numbers are these: Case: 590532 Shifter Housing (floor shift): 590591 7 Other lever housing: 367950 or 867950?
Is this a 3 spd floor shift with overdrive? It is definitely for a torque tube rear. If it is an OD 3spd, would it bolt to my 49 216? I know, I shoulda taken a picture with my phone.... I never remember to do that.
Current fleet (subject to change w/o notice) \'49 GMC 3/4-Ton , 60 Austin Healey Frog-eye Sprite (some assembly required), 2011 Dodge Avenger, 2015 Jeep Cherokee. No, they don't all run. My other ride is a (B737)no, (B767)no, A320.... Update... was Embraer E190, now Boeing B787. Knowledge is a wonderful thing, but ignorance means you don't know you can't do something.

It could be used in your 49. Chrysler with Borg-Warner, design the over-drive for the 1934 Air-Flow, and later it was used it Chrysler's that had the floor shift. GM was slow to use the O-D's there where some after market over-drives available for Chevies, in the 40's I almost think one showed up on this sight for sale. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 843 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 843 | Highflyer, that 590532 transmission case was used in various applications in 1932-36 Chevy cars and pickup trucks. In fact, I'm looking for a 590532 empty case right now for my '36 pickup. What price was on that transmission? Ray email [email protected]
