Why can't we just go back to the designs from when cars were unique and didn't all look the same?

The gmc has a 283 v8 option do you think those engine mounts would work since the 283 and 350 are the same block?

The main thread shows how I used 67-72 style mounts on my 1960 GMC. You wouldn’t need to do the rear crossmember change if you’re keeping the original type bellhousing with the side mounts. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=369663 | | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 43 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 43 | Yea i have seen that thread a few times, LMC truck has engine mounts for a 283 4.6L v8 option for the 62' gmc model listed in their catalog, i figured since a 350 is the same block as the 283 i could order a set of those after i get my stock tranny beefed up to handle the 350. Think the rear end will hold up to the power or might i need to switch that out? and do you think the lmc 283 mounts would work since they are factory replacement?

There an easy way to deal with the spacers for perches as far as machining them? Or would the 65 perches bolt in? Not sure with the year difference but a second opinion never hurts right?

If it is i'm almpst positive my 350 crate will bolt in after a rebuild. Now thinking harder before ordering parts were any of the 305 V6's available with posi-type rear ends?

But, as mentioned above, I have heard that the V-6 Bell is different than a V-8 Bell. The V-6 was out in 1960 and went to '68 or '69 in Pick-ups, even later in larger trucks. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

YOUR TRASMISSION WILL BOLT UP NO PROBLEM.YOU WILL ALSO NEED A STARTER AS THEY ARE NOT THE SAME, ALSO CLUTCH & FLY WHEEL.YOU WILL NEED MOTOR PERCHES FOR A V8 ALTHO I WAS TOLD THAT I6 'S WILL WORK JUST TAKE THE TOP PART OFF[ 292 PERCHES WON'T WORK],THIS I CANN'T SWEAR TO AS I DIDN'T TRY IT.I ALSO HAD TO MAKE A BRACKET FOR THE CLUTCH SWING ARM BALL TO MOUNT TO, BUT YOU COULD ALSO MOVE THE OTHER BRACKET ON THE FRAME JUST AS EASY. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 43 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 43 | rar when you used the 65 283 mounts did they bolt in or did they require modification? placed the order for v8 bellhousing off the 283 from a 63 chevy. this all i need besides the transmission beefup?
