Its pretty rusted out but the drivetrain is all there and looks to be in good shape. Would this be a good candidate for swapping out the torque tube on my 1953 chevy 1/2 ton. Does anyone know what gear ratio this might have? It has a 235ci and the transmission looks to be a 3 speed on the column. I'm looking for something fairly simple that would work. Its not a leaf spring setup but rather it has control arms. Thanks for your help.

Later I can change the gears or tranny to improve the drivability.

| | | | | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,095 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,095 | I used a 79 nova rear end. did it my self and i am not very handy. drove it for 15 years before i had it professionally redone. the ratio is 2.73 but there are others. it does ok on flat land in fifth gear but on long up hills i have to use fourth if i have the cruise control on.
