So i`m thinking of rebuilding the free 250 six i was given I have thoughts of replacing the 305/th400/Doug-nash overdrive in my 1981 shortbed,stepside p.u. with it. Actually i want the 250/700r4 combination. So my questions are this 1) Has anyone put together the correct part numbers to do a quality rebuild? Not just the numbers for carbs, intakes, exhaust? 2) 307 pistons, (0.30 work?)3)Do we know the best size valves to install? Part number? 4)What bearing seem to work better in these 6 bangers?5) How about part numbers for cams?And cam brands?6) what do you fella`s thinks about balanceing the 6 bangers? 7) is there an after market harmonic balancer (part number) that you guys recommend?8) Although not intrested in rollor rockers, does anyone make roller tip rockers for the 250? I am hoping some of you have this stuff written down some where. If not would you be so kinda as to take a few minutes and respond with your choices. Let me say in closing i am not building a racer.
