on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 111 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 111 | I have a '48 216 with a 3 spd column shift, and also have a spare 216 and 4 spd floor shift. Does anyone know if I can drop the 3 and install the 4 easily? Other than removing the column shift stuff, any other change I should expect? | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | The 4-speed should swap in OK. The major "change" would be the 4-speed weighing twice as much. So, the 4-speed is not so easily lifted as is the 3-speed - I needed to use a jack for the 4-speed. I made this swap last Spring in my 1954 1/2 ton with enclosed driveshaft.
