on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 15 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 15 | My name is Brent Silk from Macon, North Carolina. This truck would not leave my thoughts after seeing it under a shed with 10 years of dust on it and having to remove several snake skins just to sit on the seat!! Something about this one just says there isn't another like it. My truck is a 1965 K20 and a 292 L6 with a 4 speed transmission backing it up and power brakes to stop it and enough fire warning lights to drive an electrical engineer insane. Everything is in working order on this truck (except for the pump, needs the seals replaced) and the only rust is few and far between with no rot, just surface rust. I have not been able to find another like this one so if anyone has pictures of them, let me know!!I have been doing a lot of work to the motor and decided here recently to switch it up to a v8. Besides the motor swap (and eventually a transmission swap) which will happen in a few weeks, I am going to keep the truck original. It has been painted several times over the years to keep the red, red. The truck has 15620 miles on it when it was parked over ten years ago because it broke down. After a little tweaking, like rebuilding the carb, new lifters, pushrods, oil pump, coil and a starter, she came together quite nicely. I bought the truck for $300 so my budget can go pretty high on this one. Right now I am getting the drive train and brakes where it all needs to be so that I can drop my motor in when it gets here. I tried to take pictures of everything that most people would find interesting, and I plan on updating as parts come in and as money allows. She is a beauty in her own class. http://s1116.photobucket.com/albums/k571/brushtruck/contact info: [email protected]

Congratulations, and welcome to the Bolt! | | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 15 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 15 | Well the work has not stopped since I got the truck. I plan to be updating the pictures soon. So far I have put all new seals in the front and rear differential, the transfer case, and the transmission. The brakes have been reworked which included all new wheel cylinders, shoes, and a few other items, except for the brake booster which I hope holds together for a while. Also, the bed is in the process of being converted into something more usable, and the pump which I thought needed seals decided to grenade on me. All of the wiring to the rear of the truck has been redone, and all of the wiring in the engine compartment has also been redone. The motor (350ci crate)is in with somewhat little trouble. I added a new alternator, power steering pump, clutch, speedometer cable, tachometer, and electric fan to the mix. I still am awaiting a few parts to complete the project such as a clutch fork boot, heater fan, and battery tray and a couple of fuel lines and vacuum lines. The paint will hold off until the funds recuperate a little and I also found a couple of donor vehicles to get some straighter panels off of. I plan to post new pictures within the next week or so. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 215 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 215 | Geez nice truck and what a deal! Where am I when these deals are around, or where are they when I'm around, or where are they and me?? Think I lost my train of thought on that one! | | | | | Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 2,987 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 2,987 | If you haven't already done so, be sure to pop over to the Big Bolt forum and check in at the Stovebolt Fire Dept. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 15 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 15 | Well here are the updated pictures. I took her out yesterday for the first drive since the project began. Everything is about where I want it now, and the exhaust will be finished on Tuesday. Right now it is just headers; the wife's response to hours of long work, bruises, cuts and scrapes, and of course the greasy clothes, "it's loud". I still am going to do more body work and stuff, but as of right now, she is just fun to drive. Still got a few issues to work out, but all in time.
