If this indeed is the vent, is there something missing?? Just a hole on the top of the shaft? Surly there must be some protection from elements that I don't have. If you know what size the hole is [1/8" or 1/4" pipe thread] you can probably get one at your local Napa, hope that helps. | | | | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 575 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 575 | Thanks guys!
I couldn't tell - or perhaps I didn't look hard enough, but is it that hole threaded? It looks like 1/4" for sure.

Put some grease on your thread chaser. Any loose stuff or metal chips will stick to the tap and not fall inside. Go to your local NAPA. Tell them you need a vent for your rearend. They have some awesome catalogues to look through. That'll give you some options. | | | | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 575 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 575 | Gotfasd - I had to laugh - I was reading your post, and the reread it to my wife - the part about needing a vent for my rearend... she agrees 100%. | | | | Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 829 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 829 | My wife seems to think I need a plug for mine. | | | | Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 400 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 400 | Mine tells me I need a muffler for mine. | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,112 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,112 | To change the subject, the vent on my 1 Ton has a little tube with a one way flap inside. I removed it and tested it. It lets air out but not in. | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 171 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 171 | my wife tells me i am a rear end!!!!!
