Tried to buy wheels and tires from a guy at work. The wheels look like they're off a mini van or something (Chevy center caps) but the bolt pattern of the new wheels is smaller. I thought all Chevys were the same. Any idea why they wouldn't fit?

A 5 lug x 4-1/2" pattern has a measurement of 2-5/8" from center of the first hole and the third hole. There is only 1/8" difference between the hole centers so I'd suggest you make a template as using a tape measure can be a bit iffy!!!!
I took some poster board and cut out a little template that I used to quickly check stud and hole patterns. Check pg 11 of my webshots for a pic. Hope this helps. | | |

If so, they have a metric 115 mm bolt circle. Those won't work with the rear drive pattern. There is also a small pattern front drive that is 100 mm I beleive. Rear drive Chevrolet would either be 4 3/4" or 5" with 5 lug, with the larger being used mainly on police/taxi/SS Impala/Caprice full size '71-'98 truck, and the Astro van. May also have been used on the later C5/C6 'Vettes.
