I've been looking for a new driveshaft carrier bearing for my 1 ton panel. I've found listing for a couple, but both say "not for suburban or panel".

Does anyone know what the difference would be between a 1 ton panel and a pickup?

I'm also posting this in panel and burbs.

I don't know of any frame difference between the two, though I've only ever see one, ton panel. I don't remember seeing any difference listed in the shop manual.

take the # off the bearing and replace it with like kind. if you cant read the # take the bearing to your bearing house and they will get you hooked up.

The bigger issue is he probably needs the new rubber insert to go with it, and that can be difficult to find. Last one I got was NOS.
If you need the whole thing place a wanted ad on this site, I expect you'll find what you need, even if you don't know exactly what you need yet..

Grigg hit the nail on the head. The bearing itself is ok at this time, but the rubber is hard and starting to crack.

I was kinda hoping someone might know the specific differences. The local drive shaft rebuilder can't find one, so I was hoping to get some info. I will put up an ad though.

you may want to try Obsolete Truck Parts in Nashville Georgia.
They have NOS stuff on hand and might....might have just what your looking for. Its worth a try. If they don't maybe they can lead you in the right direction.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

Thanks though. I'm gonna pick mine up from the drive shaft shop and see if i can find one that can be made to work.

Send chevyb a PM, I got mine from him a few years ago, and I always call him when I need NOS part, he usually has what I need.

Thanks for the lead. I sent him a PM as suggeste. I'm getting really close to having this thing on the road, so I am getting excited. Can't wait to get it out of the shop so I can get some decent pics.

BTW when reading about one of your post, you mentioned Rickson Wheel. I ended up buying wheels from them and they look great. Looking forward to rolling on them.

Good to hear about Rickson.
I'd like to stop in again and see how they've got the shop set up now and what they can do, they were just getting into manufacturing wheels when I was there last.
