Ok, I've taken my grill in to be repaired and replated. The guy doing it told me that he only polishes the face of the grill bars and the bevel (between face and sides) but he does not polish the sides of any of the bars. He says that originally GM did not polish the sides on the grill bars as they are not "presentation surfaces" He told me the cost would be significantly higher to polish all the sides of all the bars to a mirror finish.
Is this true what he is saying that originally the grill bar sides were a shiny but pitted surface, not a mirror finish?
Secondly, has anyone here got their grill done as such and are the sides really all that noticeable? I know even the face of the bars being a mirror finish will be a heck of a lot better than what it is now but I am struggling between whether it will be obvious and if it is really worth the cost increase? It is already costing my $1275 to get it done.
Does anyone have any pictures for me to look at?
