How difficult is it to convert a step bed to a cameo bed.???Chevrolet says that the cameo sides go over the exsisting step side bed sides.and the floor and the front bed panel is all the same. and then al you got to do is work on putting on a cameo tailgate and all hardware . and change the rear bumper brackes to accept a cameo bumper but my real questions is the sides and tailgate can it be done using a ste side bed as they say you???

The bed sides, tail lights, and some of the trim and emblems are available. If you can find a donor vehicle for the hard to find parts you may be able to make it happen. The metal bed is essentially the same with holes drilled in the top and sides of the bed to accomodate the Cameo side panels, support brackets, etc. Fred

You'll have to search but I think one was Gibbon Fiberglass and and the other was Carolina Conversions? But if you do a search, you'll see that others have done this using such conversion kits. I think the cost was about $2,500. I don't know if either is in business anymore. Didn't work for me because I have a long bed truck. | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 |
