Could not seem to get it out of gear. I pulled the top cover and inspected the fork yokes and shifted everything back and forth. Installed cover/shifter what I thought was in neutral, Upon testing I have 1st/2nd gear it appears, but reverse shows to be a forward gear also! Help!
What am I missing? If you are not familiar with it press down on the coller with pliers & turn it about 15-20 degrees counterclockwise. All the openings in the rails should be lined up. If not take big screw driver & line them up. It should be in neatral. Jack up a rear wheel & it should turn. Put the lever back in & try it. If it doesn't work right pull the top off & make sure the forks & reverse lug are going into the grooves. If it still doesn't work put the cover in a vise or clamp it down upside down. Work the rails. They should have a good snap to them. Only one rail at a time can be out of neatral position. If thats ok you have something wrong in the trans.

Finally got the gear alignment in neutral and the forks line up. Also found the reverse lever was loose and missing a bell or wavy washer
Everything works Now!
I wil try post post pictures someday for the guys like me not heavy on transmissions. | | |
