For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 293 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 293 | I am looking for a 3 series rear end to put in the 66 Burb. I found one ( have not looked at it yet), but the man tells me that its a 12 bolt truck, 6 lug, with leaf springs. I don't care about the housing, but will the guts in this still fit inside of mine if it is a 65 -70, even though mine is coil springs?

Mounts will have to be cut off the old and welded on the new one to match your suspension style. 1950 3100 3 windo 1951 gmc 102 1958 chevy 3200 1959 gmc 102 1963 c20 1959 buick lesabre 1961 buick lesabre

I am looking for axles and guts to put into my existing 66 rear end. The one I looked at today was 6 lug, leaf spring perch's, the axle spline was the same, but the axles were about 3/4" longer than mine. They casting date looked like a 6, but it was located on the front of the housing, not where mine is. The Brake Drums were finned and larger than mine. The rear cover seemed teh same as a 12 bolt
My question is, what would have this come out of? I thought the 6 lug went out in 70-71?
Would the center carrier be the same in this as in mine?

Side note, '71 and '72 are also wider than the '70 and earlier.
