I am looking for a 3 series rear end to put in the 66 Burb. I found one ( have not looked at it yet), but the man tells me that its a 12 bolt truck, 6 lug, with leaf springs. I don't care about the housing, but will the guts in this still fit inside of mine if it is a 65 -70, even though mine is coil springs?

Thank you

Change the mounts on the new rear and use the whole thing. Mounts will have to be cut off the old and welded on the new one to match your suspension style.

I looked at this rear end today, and now I am confused. I am looking for axles and guts to put into my existing 66 rear end. The one I looked at today was 6 lug, leaf spring perch's, the axle spline was the same, but the axles were about 3/4" longer than mine. They casting date looked like a 6, but it was located on the front of the housing, not where mine is. The Brake Drums were finned and larger than mine. The rear cover seemed teh same as a 12 bolt

My question is, what would have this come out of? I thought the 6 lug went out in 70-71?

Would the center carrier be the same in this as in mine?

Thank you for your help.

Agreed, 4x4 rearend. Side note, '71 and '72 are also wider than the '70 and earlier.
