Hey All, Would like to replace the rims on my 1953 3/4 ton, like to get rid of the split rims setup that I have now, but would like to keep that stock look. Help

I still have the original 2-piece rims on my 50 but many people have found Dodge or Ford 8-lug 1-piece rims that fit. Almost any 3/4-ton truck wheel from the 40's to 90's will have the same 8 x 6.5 bolt hole pattern but many are too wide, especially at the front. The wheel must have a shallow inset or the inside of the rim will rub the tie rod ends. Some guys have used trailer wheels from RedNeck and other supply stores.

I have 16" rims form a ford van on my 54 3600. They fit quite well. I only have about an 1/8 of an inch clearance on the front tie rod, but no rubbing. I need to get some hubcap clips in order for the hubcaps to fit the wheels, but they still look good.

I like the vintage look too and know what you're asking. Try finding a set or 17.5, or if you are lucky 19.5 Kelsey Hayes GM wheels from a late 50's-60's 3/4 ton truck. Gmc's are more likely to have them. They will allow you to keep your original hubcaps,and fit your stock suspension. Tires for these wheels can be a bit pricey, and there arent too many choices but they look like they belong on your truck. They are skinny and tall.
