| | | | Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 12 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 12 | The flywheel for the original 235 from my '57 3200, which I just rebuilt, is showing some several inch long hairline cracks around the inside of the center hole. I figure it to be scrap. (Correct?) Can I substitute a '58 261 flywheel that I have or will it throw things out of balance? I notice that the 58 261 flywheel has a ring gear on it while the 57 appears to be all one piece. Also one is marked GM40 and the other GM44. Otherwise they look the same. Any help appreciated!

The books I have seen show the timing for a 261 is TDC.
