I am wanting to lower the front. I was told by a friend that has a 66 Chevy that if I had the correct springs I could cut 1 complete coil off the spring and not affect the ride or steering. I have ridden in this truck and it did ride great. I had no idea they were cut.

Cutting a coil dimishes the coiling characteristics and eliminates the taper-effect of the top and bottom portion of the coil, where it nests in the pockets of the control arms.
Correct springs or not, it is not recommended to cut coils, however, many do it. Lowering springs are rather economical, so purchasing a new set with the desired drop, is a better route.
