The 58 GMC I have has a 235 in it instead of the 270. The mount on the front of the 235 is not all there. Looks like the PO cut a square plate and bolted it to the cross member then just bolted the front mount from the engine to this with a rubber pad between it and the plate. I've ordered the motor mount and the shield from Jim Carter because I'm going to need it. Was the 270 block shorter than the 235. I'm trying to figure why the PO used this plate. I havn't pulled the engine yet, that's next on my list. Figured I'd do that before putting the front back on the truck. Any insight you guys can give me would make my next move a little easier. Thanks in advance Larry

The GMC engine is about 1 1/2" longer than the Chev.

Thanks. Hopefully the plate is bolted to the original holes for the 270 mount. I guess I'll see this weekend.

There is more to the mount than the rubber and shield

Check out this tip from the tech tip section

Yeah I did. Checked that out couple of times. I ordered the mount and the shield. I think I'll be having to fabricate the other part making it a little wider or longer to take up the extra space due to the different length of the engine. I'd like to make better than what the PO left me.
