With the help of my buddy we detached and removed about 4' of the new fram rails to get the wheelbase back to the 135" like my 57 3800. How far from the back of the cab did you cut?

The 4' came off the new steel. The welds were ground down with a grinding wheel. I made some clean cuts on the existing frame with my jig saw. I have become a big fan of the mini hand held Milwaukee band-saw. I use it for everything. I even clamp it in the vise to use it as a small band saw.

It went much smoother than I anticipated and looks so much better back to the original 135" wheelbase. Just have to re-attach the shortened brake lines and cut down the driveline to fit.
