With malfunctioning speedo.
Might be only the cable... or something else.

Anyone that can give me a suggestion where to get a new one ?

Or where to look for issues.

The truck is on it's way to Sweden, within a couple of weeks from now.

Vin code: 6C59K126833

Anyone knows what engine it is supposed to have ?

There is also a gearbox on the back of the speedo that has to change speeds when the two-speed axle is shifted. Occasionally those may make the speedo read incorrectly. I'm not sure if you know exactly what is wrong, but look for issues with that. Engine could probably be a 261 inline 6, like mine, or possibly a V8. I don't have anything handy to decode your VIN.

Click into the link below, next to my name, & you'll see my Wreckers. You have, what we call here, in the U.S., a auto carrier/rollback. Nice truck. Thanks for the link to the pictures.

Now the transport down to Galvestone is ordered. And transport to Sweden. So within 8 weeks from now I will pick it up in Gothenburg Sweden, and drive it home with my Volvo S60 on the bed.. ( full of tools ). Only have 235 miles home... so that will be a smooth ride don't you think? Will take some pics and write a story around that later on. Can't wait....

Great looking truck! I followed it on ebay, saw that it ran twice with a low beginning price and was surprised that no one else went for it. The truck looks really solid and had obviously been looked after. You got a nice truck at a great price!

I got it cheap. Added 430 usd for "new" school bus rated rear tires, and the cost to change them.

Sadly it's only 1/3 of the price. 2/3 is transport and taxes. First the shipping to harbour in US 1000 usdcause it takes space of 2 cars on the trailer. Then Shipping on boat to Sweden 2100 usd.

Then swedish customs and government adds 25% tax on top of all costs you have had.
Purchase, internal shipping, and shipping on sea, all together. Add 25% ONLY for taxes. CRAP COUNTRY THIS !!

But one good thing: Already when it is on the sea I can "pre register" and insure it !! and therefore drive it for 3 months on the american licesens plates.

Though about driving it with my swedish plates from my -50 chevy, so that it wouldn't be so easy to recognize... but crap, it's too damned cool, and BIG, so everyone will see it anyways.
So I can run the american plates as well.

Time flies always, but when you have bougth something it's slow as hell...

Thought of something.. they will probably need the exact spec of the truck to be able to see how much it can carry.

Is 16k or about 8 tons a correct figure? The 6C59K126833 tells me 16k in the owners manual I got from ebay... that table in the end should be enough I hope... to show during registration

Ulf - the list in the book is GVW, or total allowable weight of the vehicle and load, not how much it can carry .... the title you got with the purchase will likely have the GVW rating from the last place it was registered, it depends on exactly how the truck was equipped from the factory [different springs and tires] and there should be a tag on the truck that verifies the number

The plans are to get everything working smoothly. Cables, lamps, engine, gearbox.... BRAKES.
I know previous owner said everything works fine, brakes are excellent... But I want to see that for myself.

Otherwise, I will use it as it is. It's history is kept in the bumps and scratches. So it will stay as is.

And we will use it to transport old cars with it

Very nice truck, I bought a 1955 4400 with a car hauler back recently, mine is running a 396 big block and it is a brilliant truck to drive -- you will have a blast with your viking.

I spend a year in Iceland servicing in the US Air Force While there I learned of the extream pride Northmen take in being from (insert country name here)in the Nordic countries. Having a truck called "Viking" is so totally cool; especially being decendants of the Vikings!
It's like living in Sebring Florida and driving one, or Malibu California and having a Chevelle Malibu!
Ulf you got yourself one heck of a lot of truck truck there, and another heck of a bug for old trucks! You'll have to ONLY one in the country! HOW COOL IS THAT?
Here's hope you never need any parts! But you have many contacts here to find the parts you need!

Thanks.. I guess I will need some part, at least to fix the speedo and rear lights. But I don't care. I will buy. Ship in container, and pay. It's worth every swedish sek.

This truck will be a hit on all races this summer....
