Anyone have a general figure of what it cost to rebuild a 3 speed ,52 AD tranny? I know mine has worn 3-2 synchros.

Wre you going to rebuild it yourself?

No, I'd have it done. One shop told me they get $95. p/h labor. Does that sound right? Sounds awful high to me. But I don't know what a normal rate is.

I don't know the normal rate either, but $95.00 an hour seems like a lot.

You can do it. Take your time and when you think you are at an impasse, email me or post here. You can do it.

Cosmo,
I've never thought about doing a transmission myself. From what I've seen, it would take a lot of specialty tools. Is that right?

I just had my 1957 3 speed rebuilt and it was only $100.00. The guy that rebuilt my 235 did it. I think he put in a seal and that was all except for cleaning everything good inside and out.

Not a monster issue. Check out my website photo album:

Also WD on www.oldgmctrucks.com discussion forums has parts. You can do it without special tools.
