My question is: Are cab's interchangeable? The cab on my 63 short/step is rusted out really bad. I got a line on another one but I think it was on a 64 or 65, maybe even a 66. What cab's from these years (60-66) can I swap without any problems. I haven't bought this other cab but I don't want to let it get away either cuz its in great shape. Im sure it would mount on your truck but there are probably other things that mount differntly to the cab that you would have to change. The 64 manual is only a supplement. According to the index for the 64 manual section 2 "Frame" indicates that there is no change between the two.
Also when I mounted my cab back on my 64 I used the dimensions from the factory assembly manual (located about 1/2 way through it) to verify my frame was good to go. I judge that this particular section of the assembly manual is for 1962. These dimensions matched what my 64 frame had.
I believe that all the 64 front end sheet metal (fenders, hood, etc.) will fit on a 63 as well.
So it seems to me that the biggest concern you have is are you ok with the look of a 64 cab on your 63.
That and you will have to always remember what year parts you will need depending on what part of the truck you are working on. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2000 Posts: 179 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2000 Posts: 179 | If you were to use a 60 through 62 cab you would need to save the master cylinder and clutch / brake pedal assembly from the other cab unless you want to change to a hydraulic clutch.
