I AM SO FRUSTRATED I COULD SPIT!! A year ago I ordered an inner cowl panel patch, and proceded to cut out the rotten one in the 52 out. I get the new one, and it is just a flat piece of sheet metal with grooves stamped in it. I figure ok, here is where I start learning body work. After a few months I have it beat into a semblance of fitting. I think ok if I just slow down I can make this look ok, with the help of a quart of bondo. I am just about happy with it when it cracks along the bottom curve from overworking. So I order another one from a different vendor. Fortunately I screwed this one up much quicker saving myself hours of "fun" working on the old truck. Summit Racing has a kick panel tht looks to be what I need, and it is preformed to fit. Has any one used the Goodmark brand replacement panels? Or knows of a vendor that has panels that at least half way fit? Any input here would be deeply appreciated, as I would like to get the old girl back on the road.

I couldn't make mine fit either so before throwing them across the tracks I cut the bottom off and it was much easier to fit.

These parts really suck fit-wise so don't think you're doing something wrong.

....jimmy, just be thankful its only the inner panel and not the inner to outer panel!!! ....ooooo, don't get me started

Alvin, after dealing with this inner panel, I wouldn't wish having a bad inner to outer panel on anybody. It would probably help if I had a decent understanding of how to do bodywork!! But that is why I bought the truck in the first place, to learn new skills and keep me occupied during retirement.

MY bad I looked up the invoice from the inner cowl panels and I got them from Jim Carter and they are US made part # sm 103(right) and sm 105 (left).

Many of the vendors have opted to sell the overseas panels to help their cost. Ask where your sheet metal is made. Please let your vendor know what problems you have with any of their items. Jim Carter does have many of the 40-55 1st replacement panels made here in the U.S.
