Does it mater how i mount it? I mean if I bolt it on the "natural" way (secondary to front - primary towards firewall) does that mean that cylinders 5 and 6 will run lean because of the offset?
An different way would be to mount it with the secondary side to the passenger side and the primary side to the driver side. I think I would have better distribution that way - does it mater anyways?
How much difference do spacers make in this kind a setup? I know the plastic or wood spacers keep the carb cool but will they hav any other effects?
Jags, Summit and all the others claim Torque and milage gain.
Anny ideas, pros and cons?
Thanks, Frank | | |

I have no idea if this pertains to your setup or not, but I thought "float bowl" orientation should be a consideration.
The forces of acceleration and deceleration can slosh fuel if mounted improperly.
I don't know if this is fact or fiction!

On the spacers, what you're mainly looking for is keeping the carb cool. You might gain some torque increase, but unless the spacer is rather tall, the effect won't be much. The idea behind it is that the spacer gives a "ram" effect to the incoming air/feul charge, think of the old Sono-Ramic and Max Wedge Chryslers from the '60s. It's the same concept. the trick is tuning the spacer length to the engine dispacement and the manifold type to get the effect and power gains. Basicaly put, the longer the runner length, the more torque is made. I hope this information helps. p.s. The floats bowl does usually go to the front, exept on some Rochesters and drag race type Holleys.

Spacers are used for a variety of reasons: cooler fuel, clearance issues, greater plenum volume. Taller spacers tend to move the horsepower and torque curves "to the right"; that is WOT horsepower may be greater, idle quality and low-end torque may suffer.

Check out the pic of my engine. I haven't had problems with this orientation over the past 2 years and 10k miles. | | |

Part Number: 1523 > http://www.mr-gasket.com/ProductDet...uctID=6437566&txtSearch=bell%20crank universal bell crank kit This bell crank kit features 12 mounting holes for multi-arm positioning and can be used in either push or pull type throttle linkages. Center hole is 1/4" dia. for easy mounting. Each arm has 3 holes for various throttle ratios. Kit includes all hardware needed for installation along with universal throttle bracket. I made a 1/8'' plate that bolts to my 292 engine side below the exh headers, to hold the bell crank and lokar 2 foot cable. this then goes up to the 500 edelbrock carb mounted 180 from what jack halton does. My secondaries are outboard/ primaries are inboard. the E-choke is @ the rear w/ my wire running along the fuel line that goes round the front of the valve cover to the harness and firewall hole. It all looks stock from inside the cab.
