1946 1/2 ton. Is there a trick to removing the door latch connecting link from the latch & from the handle operator?

Each end has a "T" post c/w washer & spring that rides in a slot. The "T" posts are staked in.

Thanks

Problem solved. Originally there was a spring & washer installed before the "T" peg was staked in. When the connecting link is installed it is put over the T peg then rotated 90 degrees into position. The washer is on one side of the link & the T is on the other

Over the years, with wear on the connecting link the washers on three of 4 connectors have migrated to the T side of the connecting link. Since I need to make/buy new links anyway I cut a slot in the link to allow temoval.
