Not really concerned with ratio, as my drives are stop light to stop light for the most part on a 350 SBC/ 350TH | | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 549 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 549 | Why not rebuild the old one? What wheel bolt patern do you want to use. The Camero/firebird rears are good replacement but have 5 bolt small bolt paterns. The Blazer rear ends have the 6 hole paterns. Any thing you use will have to be modified to fit. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. No desire to change the bolt pattern, as I like the 6 lug design.
Any suggestions on what year Blazer will work? I am not looking to have to change and modify width, though i expect some changes to mounting might be required. Would be nice to find a posi or locker though...

I had a locker from a blazer (late '80's) bought, but found it to be about an 1-1/4" too wide. The backing plates measured the same, but the drums were wider so I sold it.
Just an FYI, I ended up buying a 3.38 with a complete rebuild kit from Patricks. It was under $600.00. | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 . | | . That only moves each wheel out 5/8", I can't see that as a deal breaker? Unless I'm missing something it sounds like a good swap to me. Grigg I load this truck a bit heavy on occasion and the tires would have rubbed. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 8,597 Riding in the Passing Lane | | Riding in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 8,597 | You can buy a used center section reasonable & change it in a couple of hours. The original rear end in those are about as stout as any out there.
