Just bought a 1959 Chevy Viking C60 flat bed tow truck.

Have a Chevy 1950 Styleline deluxe. So I'm used to the old 235's. This one has a 261 engine.

So hi everyone!

Hi Ulf, welcome. Did the truck arrive yet? I sometimes wonder how you 'Eurobolters' are able to get parts. Hopefully it will not be too difficult.

Hi Ulf, welcome from Scotland.
It's always good to see another 'EuroBolter' joining up!
Nice looking Big Bolt you've got yourself.
What are your plans for it?

My plans are to get it to Sweden first.
I do not know anything except what the seller told me...
He said all is working except speedocable, and rear lights...

I will fix that, then use it as is. I like the rough look.
Will change the wood on the bed to a steel bed maybe later on...

And engine, hmm.. like the old six cylinders. So it will stay....

.... and I like the Bowtie cut in the metal of front bed piece.
..and it may be good to go slow in the truck getting to the track..and then go fast in the Volvo smile Easier on the insurance that way!

That's a nice old bolt there, and it's exactly what I was lookin for when I bought 'Tater, or at least what I was planning on building her as. But plans change,...
Anyway, sweet truck, have fun with her! grin

1956 GMC 370 dump " 'Tater "
1970 VW Volksrod "the Black Bomber"
2007 Chevy Avalanche
2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk,
2005 Harley Davidson FLHTCUI

I dig all cars, old and new, whether they were hammered out of American iron, German steel, or Japanese tin cans. Being unable to appreciate them all is missing out on a world of great things.
But thats just MY opinion!

Thanks for all nice comments. Haven't seen the truck yet.
So I don't even know if it will run home from harbour.
But hopefully it will.

Yes it was on ebay. I bought it. Just can't wait to get her home !!!
Sadly it's to wide to fit a container. So it will go Roll On Roll Off boat. So it MUST be able to start, first in Galvestone, then in amsterdam, Holland, and then last in Gothenburg.

Then I want to drive it home 350 kilometer drive.... Will all be challenging but exciting.

Have bought a 59 Galaxie a couple of years ago, that all went well, even though there were Ike's and stuff in Houston...

So we'll just have to wait and see what happens

Another thing, why did I say "her" about the truck ?!!?
Is it a her?
