I have a 216 engine and in the book it show some sort of rod on the side of the engine that the linkage attaches to. Of course my engine is missing the rod, what can be used in its place?

One rod goes horizontally from the gas pedal to the bellcrank. The other rod goes vertically from the bell crank to the carb. I am going through some of those parts tomorrow for another fellow Stovebolter. Let me know what you need.
