I'm converting my 41 1/2 ton to front discs, non power. What would be the proper dual master cylinder to buy for this conversion. What proportioning valve also. I know I have to buy or fabrcate a modified mounting for this master cylinder. Dave

You can get a master for a 70s 1/2 ton chevy truck that had disc-drum and the valve just make sure that it was not "power"I looked mine up at the NAPA sight just punched in 70 C10 and looked to see what brake sys. was offered if not try 71 and so on tell you find what you're looking for ,I have drum-drum so mine will not help you.Cheaper than buying from on line stores.

"Cheaper than buying from on line stores." That should read "Cheaper than buying from the truck specialty stores". Rock Auto usually beats NAPA prices. If I need something now I go to NAPA but if I'm planning a job I use Rock.

I used a '75 Chevy truck MC from Rock on my '56.

I priced rock for some other heavy parts like rotors and the shipping for me would have cost more than the parts, I will most likely have to stay local.

Get the part # from NAPA and order from local store I don't buy from NAPA but they have a very good web site to look up part #s.

I get all my parts from CJC it's a local store.

For that year it shows the master with no operating rod sticking out of the master, can I assume that that master would be used for a power system and the operating rod would be in the power assist part? Dave

Around here, we had only Advance for a long time, now a new O'reilly's and Autozone have come in. I price match, O'reilly's will match or beat the Napa store or Carquest in town, not to mention the other two and online if they can verify via link. Find a good counter person to deal with. Heck if you have a lot of parts you plan on buying, see if they will set you up a jobber account.

When I upgraded my '57 1/2 ton, I went to CarQuest & got a '70 non-power master cyl. It was $17 & change with a core, + $15 without.
Mine was drum/drum, but I bet they have disc/drum.
Didn't come with a rod, but I just made one with 5/16" rod & a heim joint.
