I did some searching in the forums and still have a question if anyone can help. My title number is K3989978. It is a chevy 1/2 ton pickup. I was wondering what this number pertains to since I can't find it on the truck. The title is not in my name and am wondering how to match this title...is there another place I should be looking...what do the numbers represent...does not sound like a normal ID number you find on the ID plate. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

It looks like you know that the vehicle/model ID for a 1934 1/2 ton commercial vehicle has a DB in the code. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 226 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 226 | the 1934-1935 and 1936 high cab had a data plate on the fire wall. This and or the engine number was used for the vin. Back then there was no vin numbers.
The body tag or engine number is the only set of numbers on a truck unless a state installed and aftermarket number.
