I have a 1959 36 stepside and was looking at it last night and it looks like the bed is lower in the front . I measured from the frane to the top of the bed front and it is 20.5 in both sides. It looks like it is about 1.75 in below the indent on the back of the cab. I see in the assy manual they have spacers but no dimensions. This was not the origional bed so it was trial and error getting it on. Thanks for any advise and a pict of the back of a cab with the bed would help.

Thanks nice truck the gap from bed to body looks about right. wonder if the rear of my bed is too high. The rear supports are on the frame. may just jack up the front till it looks level.

look at the bottom molding of the step, should line up pretty well with the rocker molding below the door .... you need to look at the stance of the whole truck, the beds do really slope to the front if the suspension is in good shape .... check that measurement cab-to-box at both top and bottom, if what you're saying is the bed is closer at the top, then yes you might need a bit thicker anti-squeak under the front
