With everything that holds it in place spinnng the motor might break it loose.
Of course that means you'll be working a little harder to get it back in the right place.

Grab the housing just above the vacuum advance with a big pair of channellocks, and turn it back and forth. That will help work the penetrating oil down between the housing and the block. Eventually, the distributor will start to move upward, as well as side to side. Jerry

Just for you info on the 41 the bolt to the left of the distributor holds a plate to the block and the little spring is attached to that plate on the right side of the distributor.
