| | | | Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 1,067 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 1,067 | Guys, I am having a helluva time getting the hood on my '52 GMC 3/4 ton to shut all the way in the back. I read somewhere that worn hinges and weak springs will cause that. After 58 years, I have no doubt. So I bought a new set of hood springs and hinges and installed them. I adjusted them on the mounting bolts that attach to the cab.
When I first adjusted them, they looked alright. But first time I drove around, the back of the hood popped right back up about a full inch up. That's great for cooling the engine bay but it looks like crap.
Guys, I need some help here. How the heck does everybody else in the whole world have their AD truck hoods sitting down snug against the firewall and nothing I do seems to work? I'd like to get the truck painted, but unless I fix this, my entire engine will end up body color too.
I've gone through the original owners manual, which I have, and nothing they mention helps either.
...So help.
