There may be some minor differences but they interchange.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

No difference. Go order pistons & they are the same part number, no distinction between car & truck.

I have NOS pistons stenciled Truck on the top.
After market pistons may be listed to fit all, but GM cast iron pistons were different between cars and trucks and carried a different part number.

There are also a few other subtle differences. For example, pulley width. I don't remember right offhand what the sizes are but I have a 216 car engine and a 216 truck engine and the fan belt and pulleys are different widths - the truck belt being wider. I am not sure on this one but I don't think that a car 216 could be hand cranked but the truck engine I know can be. (in '51 and before at least. However, unless you are looking for EXACT restoration no one will notice or care.

Boltaire: I have a 1949 216 out of a car in my truck, and it has a "hand crank" style pulley on the front.

I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't have changed it out when they dropped it in, but anything is possible.

The GM parts book makes no distinction between passenger and truck 216 balancers.

Trucks also came with a larger fan blade than passenger.

The similarities never cease to amaze me. My ’41 also has a 49 car engine
