Theirs a 1970 chevelle 4 door that a friend of mine bought for parts and its got a running 250 inline 6 with what looks like a th350 trans attached to it. Would this motor/tranny combo be an easy install for a temp replacement in my 54 GMC 1st series?

At a later date i may rebuild the original motor/trans to drop back in..

Thanks
Tony

Tony,
I have done a little reserch on this.I am planning on putting a 1978 250 out of a nova along with the rear end from the nova and hookem together with a T-5 tranny B T W it is a 53 3100.
I have herd you can use the V-8 crossmember avalible at most venders for the side mount sixes, but Langdons Stovebolt sells a moter mount kit just for this conversion-this is what I plan on using -it looks like a neat clean setup. If you plan on useing O.E.gages the capilary tube for the temp gage is to short-Jim Carter sells one with a longer tube intended for V-8s but should work on 250 as well. You will also need a mount for the tranny-vendors sell a generic crossemember mount or you could fabricate.good luck. Aaron

I called Langdons to check up on this, but they are out until 9/4.I belive the 250 mount kit will work in cars as well as pickups as the frames on cars and pickups in these years are very similar in the engine area. This kit is more than likely to work for many different aplications as long as the frame rails are not to far apart and there are no components in the way(steering box) Aaron

This is a post on a 250 in panel, pretty much what I'm doing (250 in a 51 suburb). So I followed what they said & I have sent in for the weld up/in kit from Steve already, since I already had the ford eng rubber mounts laying around...any hew for what's it worth. I'll post back as progress continues. Thanks...

found out langdons make a mount but it is for 49-54 car. i know the folks at buffalo enterprises and they are a+ folks. you were right about weld in mounts but i would prefer bolt in which is easy to switch in case we want to put in different powerplant.thanks for the response.

Just got off the phone with Chassis Engineering they said they don't make a kit for this, but do sell the individual components-Frame mount kit part #AS-106 19.95 PR, motor mounts part #CS-1419 33.10 each and universal cushin kit part # SS-0011 24.15 PR.I think I will get my motor mounting here. They have a great website with lots of useful products to update the old trucks.Check out the master cylender upgrade
