| | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 238 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 238 | Not in a '39 I know, but I have connected the original master cylinder in my 50 truck to a remote booster mounted on the truck's bulkhead.
I have a CPP disc conversion on the front axle and drums at the rear. The brake setup works really well; I haven't needed to install any proportioning or residual pressure valves.
The booster I used was the model for an Austin Healey 3000 or Jaguar Mk 2; you'd probably find an American made unit is cheaper and easier to get hold of though.
Stuart. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,756 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,756 | If you can stand the thought of running riceburner parts, there are several small-diameter boosters on Jap imports that can be shoehorned into the frame rail area near where the original M/C mounts, and operated with an offset pushrod. I'd suggest adapting a master cylinder to the booster that's more volume-compatible with whatever brake system you're planning to run, as the Jap rigs run some very small-diameter M/C's. It would take a little fabrication work, but it's doable with a little tinkering.

I am fabricating my master cylinder mount on my original setup like one of the bolters did...I'd have to look up his name. I am going to run a dual master with 1" bore.
