I noticed a strong odor of gas one day, upon inspection, I found gas just running out of the filler neck, out from under the gas cap! The tank was not over full. My thought was that perhaps the vent in the cap was clogged, so now I am on my third cap(last one was new from Jim Carters), same result! This has ben going on now for about 3 weeks! Gas just rises up the filler neck, and literally pours out the top. In almost 50 years, this is one I have never run across before. Has anyone had this happen? if so, any suggestions as to a fix? I will have to re-paint part of the cab now, due to the gas ruining the paint. Thanks! | | |

I've never seen it drip but I assume its more for allowing air pressure to escape. Like Roy says, if the tank is pretty full and then heats up, it may be the cause of the overflow. | | |

In addition to leaving space in the tank, stay away from parking spaces that will tilt the tank toward the neck. Had that experience earlier this summer.

Yes I had Filled it before I parked it, though I did not think too much about it, since I didn't squeeze it in. It did appear worse on hotter days, 95 - 100 degree's. Drove her all this weekend, and no gas out. I will start keeping the tank a little less full, and watch parking on the hills. chevman32, I actually tried to a figure a way to capture the gas! :p | | |
