New to the forum.
Just got this truck from a friend. It's still sitting at her house and I need to get it rolling.
Motor runs great (409), everything works.....
Except there's no air pressure getting to the brakes or the air guage on the dash, and the parking brake is stuck on(or the valve/switch isn't working on the dash.) Air pump sounds like it's working fine so the air must be blowing off somewhere?
Any help would be great, this truck has sat for only a year so hopefully it might be an easy fix?

It is very hard to find an air leak with the engine running. I hook up an independent air compressor, using a long hose to keep the compressor and noise far away. There may be an unused port, plugged, on the reservoir tank. Remove the plug and hook up the independent air. Block the truck from rolling. Listen and find the source of leak. With the engine off, You should be able to test all the air systems.

I've had several '60-'66 Chevrolet LCF (Low Cab Forward) Trucks. Had a '60 L80 roadtractor, '64 L60 equipment hauler, '65 L60 oil tanker, & a '65 L80 Holmes Wrecker, that was full air brakes, with a 409, & Factory power steering. See them here, http://www.classiccoe.com/oldcoetrucks/6066.htm Yours looks nice. Is it a L60, or L80 ? Is it air, over hydraulic, or full air brakes. Check the air compressor governor, at the air compressor.

Try a new air governor, they only cost about $15 and are available at any heavy truck dealer.

You should be able to take the plug out of the end of the tank then get a female air chuck and adapt it to fit in place of your plug. Now you have a place to pressurize your air system to check for leaks and once you get your truck on the road you will have a way to air up your tires with just a hose.

I'll definetely give this a try when I go back.

Thanks, I believe it is a L80, I think its full air brakes, 409 motor, and what I think is a Spicer transmssion but I'm not sure. It has the same shift pattern, but the knob also has a hi/lo switch and the the stick also has some sort of release lever on it too.
I'm tottally new to all of this, I built a 72 C-10 years and years ago, but it's been since then since I've owned a Chevy let alone something so god dam massive.

Oh and I have a friend with an extra set of 22.5 Alcoas...... so hopefully those will be on soon.
My last question is DMV related and maybe someone is already answered this before but, the truck is 23k gvwr which means in cali I can drive it with a class C license. Do I need still to go through the air brake test/endorsement?
