My name is Kevin Dykes and i live in the Portland area of Oregon. We just picked up "Dorothy" from a guy in Bend, Or who had it garaged for a year. He picked it up from someone in california which is where it spent most of it's life. That is the ONLY background we were given; So this will be quite a learning curve.

We plan to do a decent amount of work on her, but this wont be a frame off restoration of any sort. I'm going to remove the modified Trex decking bed planks and put in real wood as well as install new side rails. other things will include upholstery, headliner, chrome accents, etc. She's already a pretty great start!

I know absolutely NOTHING about chevys, or automobiles of this era for that matter so there will be a learning curve, but as long as i can find solid literature and how-to's I'll be golden. Not to mention the help from everyone on here!

If anyone is around the area and wants to give adivce, do some wrenchin or educating, or cruisin let me know!

Let the fun begin!

Hi Kevin,

Welcome aboard! Dorothy looks like she's been well cared for. The tilt wheel indicates she may not be stock. Is this a resto-rod?

Beautiful truck. The bed looks to be from prior years '48 or '49.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if it was pieced together but I'm okay with that. It'd be nice to have it original all the way thru, but I'll enjoy her the way she is. The steering column also has a spot which looks like it was an automatic as well.

Old Thread I know. Curious if the red is a factory red?

Thanks,

Patrick
