I will say the master cylinder is rusty on the outside, but no signs of leaking and the brakes work great. I have looked at each wheel and in the cab as well as under the hood. The truck sits most of the time. I think it is either evaporating or leaking threw the walls on the master cylinder. One more thing where can I find a new master cylinder? It is a single bowl reservoir cylinder.

The booster is not on the firewall, it should be under the cab behind the left running board step. Like 51 ashton said, that's likely where your fluid is going. They don't like staying parked alot, the piston gets corroded and they leak internally.

Thanks!

Fill it up and go out about every 4or 5 days and pump the brakes a time or two. If this stops the leaking it is seeping past the cups in the cyls. If this is the case do not hone and rebuild, replace with new cyls. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 24 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 24 | just had my hydrovac rebuilt ('58 c-60 viking 2 ton) by Ron at Karps Power Brakes in Ca. He was highly recommended by another bolter and I see why. The guy's prompt, honest, reasonable, and does excellent work. I also recently sent him my master cylinder to be re-sleeved with stainless. for the same truck. www.resleeve.com ask for Ron Wooley | | |
