I'm looking for a T5 to put in ' 65 C10 and was at a salvage yard when the " guy " tells me that some T5 transmissions have the bellhousing and transmission case cast as one unit and some are separate . I know I need the separate unit . Can anyone give me more info on this and what years this was done ? Thanks for all help !

None that I know of. I could be wrong but I have read alot aout the T5 and never came across this. Some T5 transmissions were put in Camaro and Firebird and they had unique bell housings. The were tilted to one side, but the T5 was the same as any Chevy bolt pattern and could be seperated from the housing and used in other setups.

There might be a B&W 4 speed that is cast as bellhousing and box, but the t-5s aren't that way.

The "guy" is right, some T-5s have the bellhousing cast along with the gear box, tell him you want the other style. The one you want will bolt up nearly the same as your old trans did, with some minor differences. Check this site for tech tips on the T-5, also go to www.Inliners.org site for more T-5 info. But, hang in there you'll love the T-5 when it's installed in your truck. best of luck.

I,ve run into the ones that are 1 piece while looking for them. It seems they are on mid 80,s S-10s although I wasn,t shure weither they were T-5s or not. I agree with Jim I love mine.

I just bought my T-5 today, 13-52-145, 85-86 S-10. I am am sure I will love it as well, but right now hating trying to get the adapter made. Buffalo Enterprises is out of pocket for a couple of days and the turn around is a couple of weeks. The local machine shop guys are hesitant. Have not seen it done so don't think it will work and don't seem to want to mess with it. It does not look like it will be intalled on this trip.
Anyone have the CNC program for one. It would be much easier to get then. I had to leave my original bell housing, the t-5, and a link to Steppenwolf's photo journal on the swap, so they can get me an estimate. Jeez, I can't wait to get back to the real south...and I am from here!
