The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Primer needed on Engine before high temp enamel?

Hi All

Do I need any kind of primer on the engine before I paint high temp engine paint or can I just spray directly engine paint? And for 235 6 cyl and bellhousing how much paint will I really need. I hate spray cans because some how I end up dripping not sure if that will happen with HVLP HF gun also. I am newbie to paint.

Any suggesstions please

No primer, just a clean surface.

If you're not going to use rattle-cans the minimum quantity you can buy is a quart and that will be WAY more than you need. I used the Hirsch aerosol and it took one can. Don't scrimp, get a heavy coating.

BTW, No problem with the drips with that product.
