on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 7 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 7 | Hello to everyone; New to the forum, and I have read some very interesting topics and it looks like I have found a great group to join with everyone so very informative and helpful. I have a question about my old GMC dump truck. It is a 4500 1967, is that similar to the Chevy C 50 or C 60 and when I need parts, like the master cylinder I need now, will Chevy C 50 or 60 parts match up to it? | | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,733 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,733 | A lot of parts will interchange however you need to be aware that when your truck was built there were a lot of differences in the two brands. During the 70's things started to get blurred but up into the 60's the GMC was considered the premium truck and it went beyond just the differences in the engines. Get yourself a Shop Manual and Assembly Manual if available. The C50 would have been the similar Chevrolet as far as GVWR is concerned.
And WELCOME to this great place. Come around often. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 942 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 942 | A 4500 is pretty rare. Sure would like to see a picture or two of it. A good parts store, one that knows trucks pretty good, should also be able to set you straight on the correct one for your truck. If they are not available anymore, you could possibly have your old one rebuilt.
Keep us posted.
