It wont affect the way they sit but just curious if it would affect how good the engine runs.

However if his valve seats are pitted, it is quite likely that the seats need working as well as the guides. Once the seats get too wide, there is no correcting them with lapping. They must either be ground with 3 different stones like I use, or cut with modern equipment.
