after removing my valves i have found 3 of them that have some deep pitting on the top of the vale. It wont affect the way they sit but just curious if it would affect how good the engine runs.

Are you talking about the tip of the stem or on the face of the valve?

Valve seats must be almost perfect. If the seats are pitted, you need them worked at a machine shop. I still use 50+ year old valve grinding equipment which works fine but you probably find a mechanic that still has this equipment for knows how to use it.

new valves are only 70 for both intake and ex, is that cheaper than machining

Where I live, $70 for 12 valves (with proper cut on the mating-face) would be cheaper than machining 12 old valves.

New valves are cheaper than refacing the old ones. However if his valve seats are pitted, it is quite likely that the seats need working as well as the guides. Once the seats get too wide, there is no correcting them with lapping. They must either be ground with 3 different stones like I use, or cut with modern equipment. If guides are worn, they must either be replaced, knurled or sleeved.
