on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2010 Posts: 2 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Feb 2010 Posts: 2 | I recently purchased a new steering wheel for my truck as the old one is pretty worn. In my haste and without measuring or test fitting I bought a wheel off of a '55 Buick special. Once I had the wheel off of my truck I noticed a few diffrences. The splines on the column are too small for the Buick wheel. It has 2 posts coming off of the back (I am guessing to cancel turn signals) and no place to put the plastic GMC signal cancelation device on the back. Before I started hacking away at a really nice wheel I wanted to get some opinions. Is there any way to make this work? Thanks! | | | | | Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 13 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 13 | I wouldn't bother, just resell it and find the correct wheel.
Is there anywhere that redoes these old wheels? Mine is cracked but otherwise good.

I think with some sanding, 3-4 thin layers of paint and 3-4 layers of clear (wet sanding in between) it would look nice.
Figured out I way over paid for that Buick wheel ($100). I guess it will make nice wall art:)

As for the Buick wheel, if it's in good shape I would through it on ebay, if it sells great, if it doesn't then hang it on the wall.
