I just got a NOS Rochester 1bbl new in the box from ebay. I bolted on my 292, it seems to run ok but during these heat waves we have been having lately it stalled on me twice. pulled over and could hear it percolating where the float is. Should I just write it off and blame it on hotter than normal days? Also is this the right carb for my 292, It's a service replacement carb part# 7040025. I was just wondering if a 292 carb has a bigger jet different float etc. than a 230 or 250 carb?

Yes the main jet on the 292 is usually larger than a 230/250. The throttle bore is also larger by about a 1/4 of an inch too. There's a 40 CI difference in engines size. The jet and throttle bore aren't going to cause the fuel to percolate in the fuel bowl.

Did you put a phenolic spacer between carb and intake manifold? If not try that.

If you can't find a spacer, one can be made from wood. I made 2 of them using the original as a pattern from red oak from Lowe's.
