Does anybody have the 1941 accessory horns installed on their truck? I would like to see what the mounting brackets look like and where they attach to the firewall.

I have them on my 46, came off a 46 2 ton, easy deal bolt right on the rad support. I can shoot a couple more pics if you want.

Thanks, I appreciate it, but the 1941 used seashell horns, not the duel trumpets used in 1946.
Incidentally, do you find the duel trumpets to be a lot louder than stock horns and do you use the town and country switch to control them?

Not sure about the maker (GMC or Chevrolet or GM), of the trumpet type of horns you are referring to. I have seen these on a few 41-46 Trucks. However I found the type of horns that you are referring to.

See scan below for factory accessories, as for install, I have seen nice and crude install of these. Must have been installed either by the dealer or local repair shop, or even the owner? Thereby causing different types of hardware, exact location, additions of horn relays etc. I sure would like to find the factory/dealer install instructions.

Very interesting. I was not aware they were available in '46.

They are shown in the 1941 accessory brochure: Click.

However, on p325 of the 1946 Chevrolet Truck Data Book For Chevrolet Salesmen, there is the trumpet type shown, with absolutly no mention of the seashells: Click.

Since they were both offered in 1946, perhaps the trumpets were also available in 41. Any data to prove it?

I have an unrestored pair of the 46 trumpet horns, recently saw a gentleman, probably old GM worker, from Janesville, WI selling a number of different restored horns. FYI, he sold a pair like we are talking about for about $225 on eBay.

I have matched dual horns on my 46 1/2 ton. They sound awesome! They're located on the drivers side of firewall to the left and below the voltage regulator with the horn relay above them. If you want a pic of them let me know and I'll take one.

I also found them the seashell, in the 1942 Special Equiptment "Silver Book".

kingisomer, I am short on 1946 Accessory books, very hard to find. Same as the salesman data hand book for 1942 and 1946.
I have some GMC Accessory books, but will need to dig them out. I will keep looking for them as well.
So, in summary, the trumpet horns for sure were avail in 1946, the seashell 1941-1946. I kinda like the trumpet horns, as JiMerit said, they have a bracket that crosses the radiator support rods, and have not seen the town and country switch, cept in books. Looks like a setup to look for. 46 Texaco, want to dispose of those trumpet horns?

Thanks for scanning those. I see that silver book also confirms that the town and country switch could be used to control the seashell horns on trucks, something not stated in the 41 accessory brochure. I did recently see a T&C switch on ebay but I held off because I was not sure that they were for the 41 trucks.

The trumpet horns are without question more attractive, and I would certainly put one on my truck if I was not going bone-stock. There is one on ebay now listed under 1939 chevy horn which might be worth watching if you want one.
