For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 84 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 84 | Are 228 and 270 heads interchangeable ? | | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 1,464 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 1,464 | Yes, you can interchange the GMC heads but you could notice a difference in performance depending on which head is going on which block. Patrick's has all the info on this and I'm sure would gladly share any downside to what you want to do. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 84 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 84 | Thanks,
Does Patrick have this info listed somewhere that I could refrance it?

As a rule of thumb, any head that was used on an engine with the domed pistons will interchange. Casting numbers can be 2136477,6107412, 2194819. A GMC from 53 on will use a flat piston and a different head. | | |
