The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Interiors Cab rust removal ?

I have the fuel tank and seat out of my 53 3100s and want to get all the rust out before putting them back in,I was wondering if it is best to use a rust stripper disc or take it to someone that can sand blast it? I would like to hear some feedback on what worked best for some of you and produced best results.

Blasting will always get to the parts a disc cannot reach,but I'm assuming your truck is a Texas truck,so the rust shouldn't be too horrendous?
I'm using discs on mine simply because there's no-one locally I can trust(or afford) to blast mine.
I've stripped mine with discs and hand sanding and am using POR Metal Ready to stabilise the remaining bare metal.
I'm top coating with POR-15 paint and have been really pleased with the results.JMO

I used the discs of all sizes and am very pleased it took some time but the results are very good and a lot less clean up.I painted mine with itching primer than sanding primer and paint it came out great.Just don't stay in one place to long and build up alot of heat keep moving around section here than a section there they do a good job like I said it just takes some time.

Are you talking about the round flap sand paper discs?

No just the regular flat disc that goes on a drill or angle grinder.
